Lorene Alba was diagnosed with asthma during her freshman year in college. She graduated with a degree in culinary arts in college had a successful career as a chef and restaurateur. Lorene later switched careers and now works in the non-profit sector.
She became active in the asthma field as a result of her own experiences with severe, persistent asthma that for many years was poorly controlled. She is now a certified asthma educator (AE-C) and specializes in developing curricula and teaching clinicians, patients, and caregivers about asthma self-management. Her current passion for creating asthma-friendly recipes combines her love of cooking, food, and helping others with asthma. When she’s not in her kitchen she’s hiking with her dog or knitting over a great cup of coffee.
