Allergic asthma

Hi guys. first of all I used to sneeze all the times in my childhood and I didn't think much of it and thought it's just allergy but after covid I started to get congestion in my chest I didn't think much of it then it started to occur more. I started eating montelukast and it used to give me relief then Suddenly I noticed that my skin suddenly develops rashes and itching and if I don't touch it the rashes will go away anywhere I itch on my body it becomes red and I get rashes everywhere I itch. Sometimes after that I tested for allergy and I was allergic to dust mites 29 kUa/l and dog dander 10 kUa/l. I consulted to a doctor. and taking medicines but congestion is increasing And even the inhalers are not working properly and I get congestion many times a day. I always feel something is stuck back of the throat and my chest and sometimes I cough very thicky mucus and sometimes jelly like mucus that stretches like a wire. Also I going through immunotherapy where I put drops under my tongue and also I have a dog but I also used to live at other places with no dog but experienced the same thing. I haven't breathed properly in more then one year. I don't know what it is post nasal drip or allergic asthma and I am 25 and I started having there problems after 23 and after getting covid also I smoke

  1. Hi , and welcome! I see you are a new member here, having joined yesterday in the evening. We are glad to see you are already engaging with the community through this, your first post.
I am sorry to hear all this is happening to you. For some folks, contracting the COVID-19 virus can be referred to as the precipitating insult that may have triggered an asthma diagnosis. Do you think this is applicable in your case?
Are you being followed by a physician for this new development in your health history? Do you find the smoking irritates the disease too? How are you managing these new symptoms combined with your other health issues?
    Wishing you well,
    Leon (site moderator asthma.net)

    1. Hi, welcome. You definitely have a lot going on, I hear how much you're struggling! It seems to me that your current medication is not working to control your symptoms very well. Are you able to go back to your doctor and talk about this? You may need to have the medications changed.

I also want to let you know that we have another site like this one for people with allergies. It's at www.allergies.net. They might be able to add some insight to the reactions you are having, especially the rashes.

You aren't alone! Please keep us updated about what you learn, we will be here to support you! -Melissa, asthma.net team
