Allergies

I was told I have allergies to all enviromental things. I asked if I could have asthma I was told no from 2 different providers, but they never checked me for asthma soI started allergy shots, I was told a allergic reaction would start the same day. I have gerd, hiatal hernia, and a lot of built of gas, so it was hard to tell what was causing the chest discomfort. Before my third shot asked allergy clinic if it could be from the shots and they said it had to happen same day, also I was told to wear n95 mask when I went out so chest was sore from that and inhaling nasal sprays. So before my third shot went to medical doctor said I was fine to get my shot. So I got the shot. Then before my fourth shot I asked if they could check me for asthma well quest what I had wheezing when exhaling hard. Now I will be tested for asthma and been put on albuterol for know. I am not to happy about now I feel like before allergy shots they should check for asthma. I don't know if I should do allergy shots after what ever else is going on is under control.

  1. Hi , and welcome! I see you are a new member here, having joined today, just about an hour ago. We are glad to see you already engaging with the community through this, your first post.
Thanks for sharing your present medical circumstances with the community. Based on what you've shared here, you may want to consider having one main physician coordinate your medical care. It can be challenging when several different doctors are responsible for your diagnosis and treatment without one being ultimately responsible for your overall medical care.
    What do you think?

    1. Leon I think the same. I had also seen a ENT doctor he said asthma he said no allergies because blood test negative and skin test positive.but didn't test me for it and had also showed my results from allergy test to my pulminologist and they said to do what allergy clinic said. I wasn't sure about doing allergy shots so I wanted opio s a outs the shots from the doctors for other issues. I first went to my regular doctor she sent me to allergy clinic. I mentioned my issues to ENT doctor when I went for my silent reflux. I just feel like who do you believe. I go for PFT test tomorrow and than I do a other challenge test in September for asthma. I feel like my pulmunologist knows my lung history the best that is why I wanted his option on allergy shots.

      1. Hi again, , and thanks for your response and further clarification. I do agree with you about the pulmonologist being THE physician who should orchestrate your overall care. Perhaps you could have the pulmonologist speak with all the other physicians who are treating you. That may help a great deal.
I will wish you 'good luck!' for the diagnostic pulmonary function test (PFT) tomorrow. Please do check back and let us know how all of this turns out for you.
        All the best,

    2. I had my pft test and it was the the same as in April. I have to have the methacoline challenge in Sept. I have silent reflux and it finally went away by watching the foods I eat,but using albuterol made it come back. What test was used for most people diagnosis for asthma. Also you people wear masks alot and also did anybody have success with allergy immunotherapy?

      1. Hi again, , and thanks for following up and sharing what you did about your PFT diagnostic test early today - we appreciate it.
Although I cannot answer for 'everyone' but, generally speaking, the pulmonary function test (PFT), is the gold standard used in the diagnosis of asthma.
I am hopeful others in the community will respond to your question, too.
        Warm regards,

    3. I don't have any advice to give, but I did want to send along a website. We have a sister site for people with allergies and I wonder if the community there could be helpful for you as you try to figure out what's going on with your symptoms. You can find them at www.allergies.net. Keep us updated, okay? -Melissa, asthma.net team

      1. I went to allergy.net typed in something and don't see where it is to hit post

      2. Hi again, - please allow me to advise you of the correct URL for the allergy website here within Health-Union.com. Please take note, the correct address is www.allegies.net, just as my good colleague (), indicated. You may have had an issue because you were using allergy.net.
        What do you think?
