Asthma Itch

Before I was diagnosed with asthma I would get a terrible itch on my chin and neck when I started coughing. Nothing seemed to help. At times I would take Benadryl to try and get some relief. After my diagnosis, I came to understand that it was a precursor to an asthma attack.
I see it as a good thing in that it makes me mindful of preparations to prevent an attack. I usually drink hot ginger tea which helps me a lot. I also put peppermint oil on my chin and neck which helps with the itch.
Of course, I use my inhalers but the tea and peppermint oil does help.

  1. Hi kdr, and thanks for your comment, we appreciate it. As it turns out, others in the community have expressed similar sentiments when it comes to asthma and the itch that, for some, telegraphs an impending episode.
We have quite a few articles, published right here on asthma.net, which speaks to these symptoms.
