Asthma Since 60

I have been having asthma since the age of 60. I am now 67 years old and in the past 6 months I have had choking, swallowing, and cough problems. I also have some mild voice disfunction since the past few months. I have been diagnosed with a right vallecular cyst, which the doctors strongly assert to be asymptomatic. However, the region around it has mild reddening. God knows if this is an additional reason and what is the root cause. I am praying to God, living with hope and doing swallowing/breathing exercise among other things. Good wishes to all.

  1. It sounds awful what you have been going through the past 6 months. I'm so sorry to hear this news. Managing day to day must be difficult. And to hear that the cyst found is asymptomatic must be frustrating, especially seeing the inflammation surrounding it. Have your physicians recommended other treatments or specialists to help you get to the cause of your choking, swallowing, and cough problems? How are you managing? What current treatments are you using? Thoughtfully, Rebecca (team member)

    1. Hi there, I just wanted to take a minute and add to Rebecca's comment. I thought I would point out an article on our website that reviews asthma and swallowing difficulties. Let us know what you think! https://asthma.net/living/swallowing-issues I do hope that you get a chance to check in with your doctor and let them know of your symptoms. All the best, Lauren (team member)
