Coping with Asthma

I am 64 yrs.old like working with kids. Does anyone have any advice if I should chance it since our immunity is down as we are older. I have mod.persistant Asthma 80% and Copd 20%.

  1. Hi Clear air, and welcome! I see you are a new member here, having joined yesterday afternoon. We are glad to see you are already engaging with the community through this, your first post.
Your concern is quite valid - whether to take a chance working with children in view of immunity issues for adults (like you). Clearly, with diagnoses of both asthma, and COPD, this may be something which worries you.
The answer of course, is a very personal one. My suggestion would be for you to discuss this genuine concern with your own private medical doctor (PMD). The physician knows you and your diseases best. If you were to have a frank discussion with the doctor about your concern, he/she may be able to help you to make this decision for yourself.
    What do you think?

    1. Thanks Leon, I use to see my Pulmonary Dr.more often but now only once a year...I could address the issue with him.

      1. Hi again, Clear air, and thanks for responding. Many folks, when their disease is well controlled, only see their physicians annually or, as needed, depending on what the doctor and patient arrange. However, even if you only see the doctor once a year (as you've said), you should still feel free to reach out with any concerns you may have. I am glad to hear you plan to take this up with your doctor.
Please do check back and let us know how this works out for you.
        All the best,
