Using My Inhaler Daily

For years, I have not had control of my asthma. I have used a rescue inhaler daily sometimes multiple times in a day. Has anyone else experienced this? If so did you deal with any anxiety or heart palpitations from too much albuterol?
I have had this happen and some days I even get little chest pains here and there. I am just getting started with a new doctor and plan to hopefully fix this just wanted to see if anyone else with asthma has experienced what I’m going through.

  1. Hi Ajgarozzo, and thanks for sharing your present circumstances with the community. I am hopeful others in the community will respond by sharing their own personal experiences managing this condition.
I can tell you that the Albuterol inhaler does have side effects which can affect patients. Not all patients experience all the side effects, but it is prudent to be aware of them and keep in touch with one's prescribing physician.
I see you have shared that you plan to see a new physician. I'm sure you will want to bring him/her up-to-date with all your current medications, how you feel and how the two of you can work collaboratively towards managing this condition.
I will wish you 'good luck!', and ask that you please check back and keep us apprised of your progress going forward.
    Wishing you well,

    1. Hi. yes I went through a phase where I was using my inhaler multiple times a day, sometimes every 3hrs or so. I also got very shaky & had heart palpitations from using it so much. I think that's pretty normal. good news is with a change in my preventative meds im no longer using rescue inhaler anywhere near as much. hope you get some answers.

      1. Hi nomad, and thanks for joining in the conversation. We appreciate you sharing your own personal experiences managing this condition with the community. Sometimes, when one is using the rescue inhaler multiple times each day, especially more than actually prescribed, this can be a signal that one's condition may need an adjustment to the medication regimen. This may actually mean that one's condition needs more control. Do you think this is what happened in your case?
Do you have anything further you are able to share with the community at this time? We appreciate your feedback and your input.
        Enjoy the weekend!

    2. Hi Leon. Yes, my asthma definitely got out of control and it was sorted out by changing up my preventative meds 😀

      1. Hi again, nomad - I am sorry for my delayed response - I do try to get to all the conversations.
We appreciate your reply and further explanation. It's great to hear that the disease is under better control by adjusting the medication regimen to be more effective.
Thank so much for your feedback here.
        Keep doing well!
        Regards,
