How is a speicific test result relevant to my diagnosis?
I have been diagnosed with several different things over the many years of this illness. Most recently, the diagnosis is cough variant asthma and moderate COPD. I just completed an allergy panel and the only thing I am allergic to is feathers. For pete's sake! Feathers! I don't have any exposure to feathers at all (pillows or bedding, no birds). How is this test result relevant to my diagnosis?
Hi Caroly - while others in the community may express their experiences / opinions with allergy testing, it IS rather puzzling that the only allergen to surface in your case was feathers.

The focused concerns you have expressed are best taken up either with the physician who provided the testing results to you, OR you pulmonologist or both. Leon (site moderator)Thank you for your comment, Leon. I am so frustrated. Cough-variant (according to the article) has a dry cough and an allergic asthma component. I cough up tons of mucus and obviously I don't have allergies. I don't know what to make of it. I am wondering if my diagnosis of Churg Strauss five years ago is indeed correct. (Except I don't have all of the accompanying signs like polyps.) I had an elderly pulmonologist tell me that he didn't know what was wrong with me and he'd been around the block a time or two so would recognize asthma and COPD in a minute. Best regards.
