Headache with asthma

Does anyone else get a headache with an asthma attack? I usually always get one either while having one or right after like I did today.

Hi april, and thanks for your comment - we appreciate it!
You are definitely not alone as others in the community have expressed similar sentiments when it comes to asthma and headaches. I thought you might gain some additional insight from this article on that very subject: https://asthma.net/living/links-asthma-headache. I do hope you find it to be helpful in a practical way.
    Wishing you well,

    1. Leon, Thank you for your comment and for John's article. I get a headache everytime I have an asthma attack. Including today in church. I don't know if it's from asthma itself or from using the albuterol inhaler.

      1.  Thank you for your update. As Leon noted above, you are not alone in experiencing headaches with asthma. And I also get them, although not as often now as in my younger days. It is difficult to know for sure why we get them when we do. In my case, my doctors pointed to an arrangement of possible causes, the most common of which were asthma-related anxiety and sinus issues. And I don't think we ever figured out the specific cause. Although, I think in the article Leon linked to above I discuss the treatment that finally helped me. If you haven't already, this may be a great topic to discuss with your asthma doctor, who may have ideas to help you. What do you think? John. asthma.net community moderator

Hi april, it's my pleasure. I appreciate you responding and the further explanation. As you may be aware, asthma can affect every patient differently. As well, patient's reactions to medications can vary considerably too. Then, there's the side effects of medication(s).
This may be something to discuss further with your physician. You and the doctor may be able to discern whether the headache(s) you're experiencing is from the asthma episode, the medication or both. Or neither. It can be that tricky!
I see that my colleague, , has also replied to your initial concern. He and I seem to be leaning towards the same explanation and suggestions for you.
I also see that you have already responded and plan to bring it to your doctor's attention in April.
Good luck and, please do check back and let us know how it all turns out.
        Warm regards,
        Leon (site moderator asthma.net)

    2. Thanks John, I will mention about headaches when I go in April.

      1. I only have a headache if my allergies are also acting up.

        1.  Thank you for letting us know. Hopefully you do not experience allergies too often? John. community moderator.
