What about asthma really makes you upset?

  1. When out of nowhere, after feeling good, I get a shortness of breath, panic, and use my rescue inhaler. Happened last night, probably did not need it.

    1. Hi Norty and thanks for sharing your recent experience. We hear you and understand how an acute episode can suddenly emerge, seemingly from nowhere. When it does, as you described, you are best off doing what you did, namely - using your rescue inhaler. No doubt by using it, you prevented the flare-up from getting worse! No reason to second guess your action - you did the right thing!
      Keep up the good work!

  2. The fact that is has recently changed my life.

    1. Hi again, Valerie1126 - asthma does have that capacity, that's for certain. The challenge (as you well know) for us, is to manage it well enough to minimize the impact it does have!
      Wishing you the best,
      Leon (site moderator)

  3. The fact that I can't join the military like the rest of my family. 😢 I can't join law enforcement either, aside from a dispatcher, so I'll have to find another career path with my criminal justice degree. I can walk, I can train in jiu-jitsu but only while on high dosed medicines, but I'll never be able to run more than a few feet again...

    1. Hi there, thanks for chiming in on this post. I can imagine having to find a new career path due to your asthma limitations must be frustrating. I'm so sorry to hear of this. Are there other avenues that you can explore where you can use your degree? I sure hope so! -Lauren (team member)

    2. I had a friend who had a criminal justice degree but never actually entered law enforcement or anything. He ended up continuing his education and is now a criminal justice professor. 😀 If your school has a career center, they can help you explore ways to use your degree. Most schools offer career support to alumni, too. Beyond that, there are many people that end up working in an entirely different field than what they studied! Try to stay hopeful. -Melissa, team member
