Does a vegan diet really cure asthma?

Has anyone ever heard of a vegan diet curing them of asthma? I keep reading articles about how certain people who suffer with asthma have cured it by becoming vegan. Is this really true?

  1. Hi - thanks for starting this forum! While there is no universal way to "cure" asthma, we do have a number of articles discussing how one's diet can influence their asthma symptoms. I've shared a few links with you if you're interested in taking a look! I'd be curious if we have any vegan community members that would be willing to share their experience with you as well. https://asthma.net/coping/diet, https://asthma.net/living/high-fiber-diet, https://asthma.net/living/vegetarian-eating, https://asthma.net/living/histamines-health-foods, https://asthma.net/living/how-i-eat-to-help-manage, https://asthma.net/answers/foods-help-symptoms. 1. Thank you for the reply. I have drastically changed my eating since my asthma got worse. I cut out all processed foods, sodas, candy etc. I find it very hard to do a complete vegan diet but I have definitely reduced my dairy and meat intake. I honestly cannot tell any difference in my symptoms since I have been eating better though. I'm wondering if this will take years of eating this way to undo any damage done to my lungs. I am desperate to feel better.

      1. Thank you for the update. I am certainly no expert on diet, although I do have a friend who is really into natural medicine and special diets to improve her health. And she tells me that it does take some time when you are making any changes to your diet to notice a difference. I am wondering if perhaps you may benefit from someone who specializes in this type of stuff, such as a dietitian or nutritionist. Perhaps such an expert may be able to answer all of your questions and guide you as to the best course of action. What do you think? John. community moderator.
