I'm curious about when everyone here found out what asthma was and their understanding of it at the time. I found out what asthma was when I was 8 years old. I was having a sleepover with a friend (said friend is no longer my friend now, but that's a story for another time). The next morning, she had to take her asthma medication, she had a brown inhaler and a spacer. I knew that asthma made it hard for you to breathe, and I knew that they typically used an inhaler. I don't remember when I learned the word "asthma" or that it made it hard for you to breathe, but I don't remember where or when I learned that I didn't know a lot about asthma until I was diagnosed and I didn't spot the signs that I could have had it for a long time.
