"Feeling much better following a mild flare-up over the last few weeks. I'm almost completely over a cold that did NOT turn into bronchitis, so I'm very thankful. I'm stuck indoors a bit more than I would necessarily like, due to pollen and humidity levels. My allergies are worse than usual and my medications just aren't providing the same relief as they have in previous years, so I'll be discussing this with my dr. Nothing to be done about humid weather, other than accepting that it makes it difficult for me to breathe and I'm better off indoors (luckily I have AC both at home or at work) while making the most of non-humid days."
Hi again, rjmoon, and thanks for this post (and your others here on asthma.net!) I believe you're doing the right thing by checking in with your physician. If your current medication regimen is not working as well as it has in previous years, it may be time to an adjustment. Sometimes, just tweaking the medications can result in a vast improvement. Good luck with the doctor's appointment and please do check back and let us know how you're doing. All the best, Leon (site moderator)
"Just here to vent a bit! I had a really great run of asthma control, to the point where I actually thought I might be in remission. But between the heat, my seasonal allergies kicking in, and now a cold, I know that's not the case. I know a lot of people don't get any real reprieve and even now I am not doing that badly considering - I'm definitely having symptoms but I'm not debilitated - but I'm just disappointed. I was fortunate to live for 30+ years without asthma and I was hoping to get back to that. But it is what it is - I'll just keep it in perspective and carry on. "
I have also been well controlled as of late but my airways still remind me occasionally that they are twitchy and noting has been mentioned at appointments that they will start stepping down on treatments. All I have heard is how difficult it was to get my asthma controlled. I sorta wonder if our airways get more sensitive as we age.
How frustrating for you, rjmoon! But, having been so well controlled should give you hope that you may get back to that after these set-backs. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Thanks for the replies. I'm sure I will get back to where I was before. This cold-allergy combination just knocked me for a loop temporarily. I wasn't prepared for ragweed to come into season as early as it did, so I didn't start allergy medication ahead of time, and I seem to be a little more allergic to it every year. I'm pretty confident that once the medication kicks in and my cold goes away, the asthma will settle as well. My biggest worry is that I'll wind up with asthmatic bronchitis, which has put me in the hospital in the past, but I'm hopeful that won't happen now that I'm on more effective asthma medications. Thank your for listening and for the support!
Hi rjmoon - it's our pleasure. Haven't heard from you for awhile here so it is nice to 'see' you again.
I see that both Shellzoo and Lyn have lent their support, and I will echo what they've said. You've been so well controlled that this may just be a little 'bump' in the road. You'll have to keep a close watch as you are trying to make certain to steer clear of asthmatic bronchitis. Do you think you would benefit from contacting your physician at this point? You can make certain you're on the right course and not missing anything. Warm regards, Leon (site moderator)
