What are our options for children who suffer from asthma?

My daughter is 6 years old and was diagnosed with asthma at 6months old. 8 months out of the year we can control her asthma but once she gets sick its like nothing works. It's constant in and out of hospitals a ton of steroids and stimulants and nothing actually helps.
She was diagnosed with a heart condition about a year ago but the issue has always been there. With the increase in steroids it triggers her SVT episodes. I feel like we are at a dead end and wanted to know what other options there are for young children who suffer from moderate to severe asthma without the steroids and their side affects

  1. Hi adairfamily04 and thanks for your post. We hear you! We understand your concerns for your 6-year old daughter who has both asthma and a cardiac condition as well. Your question is a good one as it underscores your interest in treating her beyond what you already have available to you for medications. Sadly, we cannot provide medical advice over the internet (for your own safety). My suggestion would be for you to further your inquiry with the doctor(s) who are providing care for your daughter. They should be able to guide you as to what medications you should have on hand and how to treat her basic symptoms. Please do check back and let us know how you're doing. Wishing you the best, Leon (site moderator)
