Does anyone else have issues with Prednisolone, Cortisol and Asthma?

I respond well to Prednisolone. Dr. does suggest that - when I have an asthma attack - I am ‘deficient’ in Cortisol (and that Prednisolone increases my Cortisol)? Or, does it mean the opposite, and that my asthma is partly due to ‘too much’ Cortisol? In order to reduce my Prednisolone need, should I try to increase, or reduce, my natural Cortisol Level?

  1. Hi martin and thanks for your post. While I'm hopeful others in the community will provide you with their experiences, I thought you might find it helpful to look over this article on this very topic: https://copd.net/living/dos-donts-supplemental-oxygen/.
We are unable to provide medical advice or diagnostics over the internet (for your own safety), however your concerns are very genuine and might be better addressed by your prescribing physician. Please do check back and let us know how you're doing.
    All the best,

    1. I think you got confused in your links Leon!

    2. Hi Bleu - oh my!! I think you're right!
I see I posted a link about oxygen therapy instead of steroids for our community member, .
I am sorry, martin, if this caused you any confusion!
Hey Bleu - I am not sure what I had in mind at the time in 2018, but I have not found anything suitable to provide for martin at this time.
Having looked around, my suggestion to martin would remain the same - to discuss his concerns on this topic with his physician.
Thanks for catching this Bleu - I appreciate it!
      Regards,
      Leon (site moderator asthma.net)
