Moving from Asthma to COPD from Primary Doctor

Long history of hay fever in the 1930s and been treated heavily with asthma medications since the 1950s. I have 4s and 5s on all skin tests. Years of taking shots, but no help. This week, I went to the doctor and had a raspy voice and cough. They gave me prednisone 20 mg and placed COPD on my chart. Not the first time. It seems to be more prevalent as I go for treatment. I am 89 and can you give me a feel for my future for my breathing.
