Forever Asthma

My dad was asthmatic. So was I at 3. My mom insisted I go to a faith healer. Damned near killed me by 4. Dad told her if she doesn't get me to a real doctor for help, he'd leave her with me. At that time, no inhalers. So the doctor said to give him a puff or two off of the asthma cigarettes he had. I swear they had funny marijuana in them, but it worked. By 7, pneumonia. 10 pneumonia. Then I got some sort of butane-type inhalers. Played football throughout my school years (with oxygen at the sideline). At 18, it disappeared. At 36 pneumonia again, asthma back with a vengeance. Allergic to everything from grass to Christmas trees, but oddly not to eastern cedar and juniper pollen. Those are Texas trees in my area. Well, now it comes and goes at will. Dulera and albuterol sulfate keeps me going strong...so far. I'm 64 now, can't really expect it to go away, so I just live with it. It's tough, but can be handled. Have to keep fighting. Anyway, Merry Christmas to all!
