Nucala Injection

I just started the Nucala injection. I'm hopeful that this will help me get off prednisone. Has anyone had any success with this treatment?

  1. Hi lgooden and thanks for your comment/inquiry. While you may hear back from our community members, I thought you might find it helpful to look over this article on Nucala: https://asthma.net/treatment/nucala/. Please do check back with us and let us know how you're doing.

    1. I have been on Nucala for about 28 months now. I was part of a clinical trial and it was so successful for me that I've continued on with the support of GSK. I have severe eosinophilic asthma and Nucala is a biologic that reduces the eosinophils in the blood. I have had significantly reduced infections, attacks and no prednisone in 2 years!

      1. Hello,
I have been diagnosed with Eosinophilic asthma
With chronic rhinitis for the past 2 years. My pulmonologist
Today said I should either begin Xolair or Nucala.

I do have allergies and am set up to receive xolair,
But since my doctor is neutral(?!) i’m Wondering
Which biological I should begin with? I will speak
With my ENT, but would appreciate any thoughts/opinions/considerations.
        Thank you!

        1. Hi carmentrout - thanks for your post and sorry for the delay in responding. Sadly, we cannot provide medical advice or diagnostics over the internet (for your own safety). I'm hopeful that since your post (from March 15), you've been started on one of the new medications you mentioned. Are you able to share (with the community) how you're doing now? We'll look forward to hearing from you.
          All the best,

      2. I am praying Nucala works for me! Just started injections two months ago! Can’t wait to see if this is the key! I, too, have chronic eosinophilic asthma, chronic rhinitis and allergies. This can be a frustrating existence. If Nucala is the answer, this could make life much more barable for me.

        1. G'evening, SibleyCarla and thanks for your post. It certainly is challenging dealing with asthma, rhinitis and allergies so I see you have your own issues to cope with. We wish you luck and hope that Nucala turns out to be successful for you as well. All the best, Leon (site moderator)
