A Very Scary Evening

On October 15th of this year, I had a near fatal asthma attack. I have had asthma for many years, and this was the most severe attack I have ever experienced.
I began wheezing and it just would not stop. I attempted to start a nebulizer treatment when I passed out on the floor.
Fortunately, my sister was home and found me. She alerted EMS and I was rushed to the hospital. I remember nothing about the evening until I woke up in the hospital the next morning.
I implore you all, have a plan in place for pets, family, etc. The situation could have been much worse, and I am glad that I survived but it did open my eyes to the severity of my disease.

  1. Hi and welcome! I see you have been a member here since 2021 and, we appreciate your continued membership.
Although we appreciate your first post within the community, I am sorry to hear of what happened to you! What a scary ordeal! Thankfully, your sister was home with you and was able to secure the emergency care that you needed so urgently.
Learning from this experience and then sharing it here with the asthma.net community is very kind of you! Your suggestions, too, are 'spot on!'.
I see this event happened less than a month ago to you. How are you feeling now?
    Wishing you well,

    1. Oh, Wheezy, I'm so relieved that you made it through that terrifying experience! Thank you for being vulnerable enough to share this with us -- it may very well save a life. At the very least, it will get everyone thinking about their asthma action plans, which is never a bad thing.

I hope you're doing okay and that you've made a full recovery. Did your treatment regimen change after this? Take good care of yourself! Sending hugs and best wishes. -Melissa, asthma team
