Always Asthmatic

I was born with Tracheal Stenosis. I had a tracheostomy from 3wks to 4 yrs old. I have had asthma ever since. I have had better times and worse times but I've never know a life without breathing problems.

  1. Do you remember what having a tracheostomy was like? I'm curious to know what your experience with that was if I may ask

    1. I was very young. I remember it feeling like I had something scraping in my throat. I also had to have my lungs suctioned out with a tube. That was pretty awful for a toddler.

      1. Ugh, yes, it's always hard to go through medical things when you are too little to fully understand. That had to be tough for your family, too. How are you doing these days? -Melissa, asthma.net team

    2. Hi cbastin, and thanks for your post.
I have taken care of many, many pediatric and neonatal patients over the years who, for one reason or another, have had tracheostomies. Is there anything further you are willing to share with the community at this time? Perhaps something about how your life is nowadays.
