Asthma Frustrations - Time to Vent!

We created this space as a judgment-free zone for our community members to openly vent about their frustrations of living with asthma. Some things are not meant to be said on Facebook or other social media platforms so we want to give everyone a chance to speak their mind! How often does your asthma make you angry? If you could say a few things to your asthma, what would they be? Let it all out here!

  1. Stop making so much mucus! My moderate persistent adult asthma is large under control now, except for excess mucus production. I had a CT scan yesterday, reviewed results with pulmonologist in his office this morning ... and everything is fine. The “mystery mucus” is coming solely from my upper right lobe and I sound like a walrus huffing up this stuff and clearing my throat. If anyone has any suggestions, please advise!

    1. Hi again, otter2154, and thanks for joining in the conversation here again. I understand exactly what you're saying! You did mentioned these symptoms have gotten better for you over the last few days. Is there something you can pinpoint that might account for this improvement?
Either way, keep up the good work!
      All the best,
      Leon (site moderator asthma.net)

    2. In general, I have found that having the best asthma control thatl I can has helped. It was identified that a lot of my sputum issues are connected connected to the Il-5/Il-13/Il-4 pathway and there are some targeted therapies. I have found they help some but have not completely solved this issue. It is however much more tolerable. Be well.

  2. Thank you for this link. I booked-marked it and will read this evening.

    1. Hi again, otter2154, and thanks for acknowledging the information. I do hope you find the material to be helpful in a practical way.
      Warm regards,

  3. LET ME BREATHE THRU MY NOSE!! I hate being called a "mouth breather" like my disease makes me unintelligent, but it's so hard to be taken seriously when I'm incapable pf breathing thru my nose...

    1. We hear you PumpkinGhost - thanks for chiming in here!! You are in a community where folks know just how you feel and understand just what you are going through, too!
      Wishing you well,
      Leon (site moderator asthma.net)

    2. I definitely feel the same way. I can sort of breathe through it but due to my deviated septum my nose is always blocked or difficult.

  4. dang insurance companies who think they are the doctor. Asthma could become serious why the hell do I have to jeopardize my health to prove to you what I had been on for 15 years works and just pay for it! Thankfully my doctor is fighting them. I am done trying their shit and paying for it myself. Sounds like a great lawsuit if anything happened to me while they deny medication. I have moderate persistent asthma so if my meds are off SMH things get bad and stay bad until fixed. If my meds are right I only flare with an URI

    1. Ugh, that sounds exhausting! I don't blame you one bit for being fed up. So much of healthcare right now is based on dollar signs and not people. 🙁 So glad your doctor is fighting for you! What medication are you trying to get? Have you looked into anything like a savings program from the drug's creator, or a coupon program like GoodRx? Just trying to think about other options that might be available for you besides straight out of pocket. Keep us posted, okay? Thanks for being here. -Melissa, asthma.net team
