Beach Blues

Hi all,

I was hoping a few days on the Cozumel beach would be a breath of fresh air (literally) and my coughing would let up a bit. Unfortunately, it was just as bad there.

It became worse and after an ocular migraine and an earache yesterday, off to the dr I went. I just saw my GP because they have a walk in policy and I couldn’t get an appointment with my pulmonologist. The first thing she said was boy, are you wheezing!

A steroid shot in the butt, a breathing treatment, scripts for Zpack and tesselon pearls and home I went. I’ll be using my nebbie 3x a day and hope everything else she threw at this sticks!

Now if I can get rid of this headache I might be able to sleep tonight. Or not thanks to the angel/demon steroids.

Carry on, friends

  1. Hi again, doublereeder (Ceci), and thanks for sharing this with the community. I remember when you mentioned (back in November), that you were planning a 'trip to the beach', for December. From the photo, everything looks grand but, from your narrative, not so much. (for ease of reference, here is a link to that conversation: https://asthma.net/forums/bliss-on-the-beach#reply-141894).
I am sorry to hear your trip did not turn out (breathing-wise), the way you had hoped. Thankfully, upon your return, you were able to see your internist (as a walk-in, no less!), when you were not so lucky with the pulmonologist. It also sounds like the treatment she provided should be quite effective. The nebulizer treatments, z-pack, the Tessalon Perles and the steroid shot will, hopefully, get you through this.
Did the doctor have any suggestions for the headache you are experiencing. Do you feel that medical intervention may help with it?
How do you plan to manage this migraine?

    1. Thanks for the reply. My dr said the headache was leftover from the ocular event (duh!) I found naproxen to help so it has now become my go-to.

    2. Hi again, doublreeder (Ceci), and thanks for your reply and update. Thankfully, the cause of the headache is now understood and the medication (Naproxen), helps with the pain. We appreciate you following up with us here. I am glad to hear you finally have relief from the headache.
Are you able to sleep better now?
      Warm regards,
