Leigh
My pulmonologist wants me to see a doctor at University of Maryland about having this done. From what I'm reading it looks very risky and scary, and no information on long term effects.
Has anyone here done? Or know anything?
Thanks!

You may also find it helpful to supplement that reading with this information from the Cleveland Clinic. It, too, speaks to bronchial thermoplasty:
Hi Leigh, and welcome to the community. I see you are a new member here, having joined only a few hours ago. We are glad to see you already engaging with the community by submitting your first post.
While I am hopeful others in the community will respond by sharing their own personal anecdotal experiences with this procedure, (bronchial thermoplasty), I also have something to contribute.
We actually have several articles published, right here on asthma.net, which focus on bronchial thermoplasty. I thought you might be interested in reading any or all of them. For your convenience, here is a link to this material: https://asthma.net/search?s=bronchial%20thermoplasty.

Thank you. I will look. I'm very frustrated and discouraged, and dismayed, that this is the point that he thinks I am at...

Hello, I hope this comment will help but if you are feeling apprehensive about it there's nothing wrong with seeking a second opinion if able or just speaking to the doctor at university of Maryland they may have a different opinion than your pulmonologist if you are appropriate for the procedure. I work for a specialty (nonpulmonary) and what people get sent to us/what the doctor tells them we are going to do versus what the actual needed treatment is is sometimes very different. I'm sorry you are going through this. Hang in there!
