Caffeine and Asthma

Many years ago, my mother told me that caffeine helps asthma so if I don't have medication then to have caffeine. I personally found it helps on its own for a mild flare. But I also found that if Ventolin isn't working well then taking a caffeine tablet with it makes all of the difference. I don't drink coffee or tea. Never have as I don't want an addiction but the tablets as required have worked well.

  1. I'm glad to hear that you know what works best for your asthma! How long have you been using this combination? All the best, Lauren (team member)

    1. I've been doing this for years now. Unfortunately it's hard to get good medical care so my asthma was not recognised for what it was not explained to me well. Often when I was asthmatic I didn't even know. So when mum told me that I started using the tablets with Ventolin and it really helped. Most of the time I was fine. Then when I finally found a good doctor she gave me two meds not just one and they worked well together. The did the same job as the caffeine.

    2. Thanks for following up. I'm glad that you eventually found a doctor who took the time to find a combination of meds that work for you. All the best, Lauren (Team member)

  2. I am currently well controlled, but in the fall my doctor prescribed Combivent which helped my breathing considerably. I figure with Spring coming I'll probably need it again! Best of luck to you 727e5e.
