Chronic Cough

Going on 2 years of phlegmy Chronic Cough, MD, ENT, Pomologist, Blood Test, Series of Breathing Test, 2 rounds of Allergy Testing, Chest Ex rays, an assortment of Medications, a few trips to Emergency Room. The only Meds that helped ( temporally) are Prednisone & Abuteral Inhaler. I desperately need help. I know developed a stuffy nose that makes it hard to breath. With every exam I'm told everything is fine.

  1. Hi , and welcome! I see you are a new member here, having joined today, earlier this morning. We are glad to see you are already engaging with the community through this, your first post.
We appreciate you sharing your current medical history with the community. Although we cannot provide medical advice or diagnostics over the internet (for your own safety), your concerns certainly warrant a reply.
It's hard to imagine that, with all your symptoms and lack of success with many medications, that the physicians you are seeing only offer that 'everything is fine' for you. This must be disappointing for you. I am frustrated (on your behalf), just hearing it!
Based on what you've shared with the community here, it sounds like your symptoms are not well controlled yet. What are you thinking of doing next to make progress with your medical care?
    Wishing you well,
    Leon (site moderator asthma.net)

    1. Thank you Leon,
IDK. ..what to do next. I'm trying to do as much research as I can.

      1. Hi again, Mares - I hear you, still! Is it possible that, since your breathing is still not well controlled, the medication that you shared works temporarily, is either not sufficient or, inadequately dosed? Is it possible you are not on a long enough course of oral steroids and/or sufficient Albuterol? I am thinking 'out loud' here, Mares - just thoughts for you to mull over.
As well, do you think a new, more knowledgeable and compassionate pulmonologist might provide a different analysis to help you? Perhaps, with all the doctors, tests, and medications, something has been missed.
        What do you think?

    2. I have a New Pulmonologist apt. The middle of May. I'm 🙏 praying for answers.

      1. This is good news! A new doctor can really make all the difference. Maybe if they tell you again that everything is fine, you can ask some follow up questions. What does "fine" mean to the doctor? For example, some people don't wheeze and their oxygen numbers look totally normal, even though they feel terrible. If allergy tests are done again, what are your exact levels? And so on. Your doctor should be equipping you with plenty of info about your body and how they plan to help.

I will join you in hoping it's a great match! Let us know, okay? We love keeping in touch with everyone when they have time to stop in. -Melissa, asthma.net team

      2. Hi again, Mares, and thanks for acknowledging my comment to you. I am so glad to hear you have an appointment with a new pulmonologist coming up in the middle of may. I, too, am hoping this will be the start figuring out more about your present medical condition. Naturally, if you want to talk about anything else before that time, we are here for you.
        Warm regards,
        Leon (site moderator asthma.net)
