How long does Dulera take to clear asthma symptoms?

I’ve been on Dulera for eight days, prior to this I was taking Asthmanex for a week with little improvement. It seems to be breaking up mucus and moving. However I still have that heaviness on my chest, weakness, and extremely fatigued. Is this normal and should I give it more time to work or should I contact the doctor for different treatments?

  1. Hi mom2twins - As I'm sure you know, Dulera isn't meant as a fast-acting bronchodilator. It varies with each person, but the effects can often take some time to be noticeable.

Some people say they notice a difference within a very short time, while others don't get real relief for a month or two.

My advice would be to make sure you're taking it consistently and exactly as prescribed.

I hope you notice results quickly!

    1. Hi mom2twins and thanks for your post. In addition to the excellent comment by Lyn, I thought you might find it helpful to look over this article on the specific medication for which you have concerns, Dulera: https://asthma.net/treatment/dulera/.
Are you taking other medications to help manage your condition?
