Can anyone tell me if there is a difference in the amount of dander a dog with fur vs hair will produce? I watched a mixed breed dog, that supposedly was hair not fur (per owner) and had asthma symptoms within a few hours.
Hi Sue, great question! I did not actually realize that there is a difference; however, I found this article that goes into this discussion: https://dogtime.com/reference/dog-grooming/65235-dog-hair-or-fur. It even discusses allergies. I am curious - do you know if you are allergic to dog dander or saliva? My partner is allergic to cats, but not necessarily their hair. He is allergic to their saliva. -Ashlen, Asthma.net community moderator

My skin test did not specify what component of dog, or cat, I was allergic to. I'll have to ask doctor when I see him next. Thank you for your information.
