Flare up

I am so frustrated and upset. My asthma has been under control for so long and then 3 weeks ago I got a sinus infection and it has caused the worse flare up I have ever experienced. It landed me in the hospital for 3 days. A week out and still no relief. Im on high dose prednisone and nebulizer treatments. I have been referred to a pulmonologist but the next available appt is Dec 21st!! No meds for the sinus infection, it just has to run its course. Its a viscious cycle. 3 weeks out of work with a possible week out next week. All from a sinus infection. Im mentally, emotionally and physically drained.

  1. Hi keywest, and thanks for sharing your recent medical experience related to asthma. It's understandable that you are feeling frustrated and upset. Managing a serious asthma exacerbation (the worst ever for you!), is serious. I am sorry to hear you are still struggling.
Would it be possible for the referring physician to intervene on your behalf with the pulmonologist. Sometimes, based on the urgency of your condition, the referring physician can make arrangements for an earlier appointment.
Do you think this might work in your case, with your doctor?
Please do check back and let us know how this all turns out for you.
    Wishing you well,
    Leon (site moderator asthma.net)
