GERD and mild bibasilar atelectasis

Hi I was rushed to the ER due to a serious GERD attack and had the bloating stomach pain and burping. After a CT scan and x-rays they found mild bibasilar atelectasis on my chest x-ray. While sleeping at night I wake up with crackling in my breathing. I have calls placed to an asthma doctor. I don't know how serious this is or not. Has anyone experienced this lung collapsing?

  1. - So very glad you went to the ER. You must have been struggling for a stretch before the GERD attack/bloating (???) Though I've not suffered from this, I've heard of atelectasis and collapsing lungs. Were you referred to a pulmonologist, an asthma physician, or both? I would think a pulmonologist. I wanted to leave this link to an article that describes a mom's experience with her son developing atelectasis. https://asthma.net/living/collapsed-lung-asthma I do hope it helps inform and provide you insight. Best of health with your physician's appt. Rebecca (team member)
