Heart and asthma

Has anyone suffered heart problems due to asthma ? I get terrible breathlessness on any exertion, even just getting dressed. Recently this causes some chest pain which goes off when I stop and rest for about 10 mins. I was diagnosed angina ( chest pain) and given an angiogram to check for artery blockages but fortunately there was no obstructions. The doctor said that my heart was prob not getting much oxygen because of my asthma. That it was an asthma problem rather than a heart problem. Has anyone had similar experience.

  1. Hi Deb, and welcome! I see you are a new member here, having
joined earlier today, early in the morning. We are glad to see you are already
engaging with the community through this, your first post.
While I'm hopeful others in the community will see your inquiry and respond
by sharing their own experiences, I have something to contribute too.
It is not always easy to differentiate between symptoms caused by the lungs (asthma), from
those caused by the heart (angina). To be absolutely certain what is causing the chest pain (in
your particular case), you may want to explore this further. My suggestion would be to work
collaboratively with both your present doctor and possibly a cardiologist.Together, the three of you
will be able to determine what, if anything, is happening.
    What do you think?

    1. I don't have the chest pain or angina but I was told by my GP that I have a right bundle branch block in my heart and that it is likely due to my asthma. They said it had to do with my heart struggling to pump enough blood and oxygen to and from the lungs. It even affects my hematocrit levels . They said it wasn't very serious and I don't do high intensity workouts but I do find myself easily out of breath when I exercise. Good luck with your situation.
