Parabens and Phthalates

I developed a fragrance sensitivity after my adult-onset asthma diagnosis last fall. After beginning Trelegy and montelukast, I developed the sensitivity to scents. Loss of voice, headache coughing to asthma attack. The next day I would sleep and not be hungry. This has increased each day. I now do Dupixent injections and stopped montelukast in hopes it will go away as it came. All things that bother me have parabens and phthalates in them. So it's not the scent, it's the chemicals that are toxic to me.

  1. Thanks for taking the time to share. I'm glad that you and your doctor were able to switch you to Dupixent. I hope that some of the changes revert back quickly. How long have you been taking the Dupixent? -Lauren (team member)

    1. today will be my 4th injection. I receive injection every two weeks. I stopped montelukast day of second injection. I am not seeing changes in my fragrance sensitivity. It appears to be continuing down a rabbit hole. I have asked allergist to guide me to somewhere to get answers. Was my choice to eliminate montelukast in error? I just have no clue.

    2. I'm sorry to hear that you aren't getting the answers you are looking for. Do you feel like your allergist is being helpful regarding your questions? Can you get a second opinion? Just curious. -Lauren (Team member)

  2. He is helping me absolutely with the asthma. Today's appointment he informed me he believes the fragrance issues are not asthma related. But with my larynx. He is referring me to a specialist for the fragrance and will continue treating my asthma and allergies. I'm hopeful today! I feel I've been Heard.

    1. Thanks for following up and providing further information. I'm so happy that you feel supported and heard!! Best of luck with your specialist appointment. Please keep us in the loop. -Lauren (team member)
