We could probably go really far back with remedies like this. I come from an Italian family, and it was common to see them drink a bit of sambuca, an anise liqueur. My parents always drink it when they're congested. I don't know what the reasoning is for this, but it seems like many cultures have a history of using alcohol as medicine (a hot toddy is another big one).
Obviously, be careful with how much you drink, and make sure your medications don't interact with alcohol. 😀 -Melissa, team member
