Helps me.

The old remedy that was used was a glass of Whiskey or Brandy. When I'm a bit wheezy I take a glass at bedtime. Does the trick for me.

  1. That's interesting! I don't know much about alcohol because I can't drink very much, but that's interesting that it helps you! Alcohol is a depressant. Usually they warn you of the dangers of it calming your lungs down too much, but I guess if it works for you, drinking in moderation might be helpful for you! Usually caffeine helps my lungs quite a bit, though they can get tired afterwards. I'm glad you found something that helps you!

    1. We could probably go really far back with remedies like this. I come from an Italian family, and it was common to see them drink a bit of sambuca, an anise liqueur. My parents always drink it when they're congested. I don't know what the reasoning is for this, but it seems like many cultures have a history of using alcohol as medicine (a hot toddy is another big one).

Obviously, be careful with how much you drink, and make sure your medications don't interact with alcohol. 😀 -Melissa, team member
