Inhaler no longer available

Hi everyone , I currently use Flovent HFA . Apparently GSK is not going to be supplying it after Dec. 2023. I have heard that the generic is available . Since I am on Medicare looking into the new plans for part D the generic is coming up extremely expensive. For thoses of us that use Flovent HFA what other options have you come across that will be more affordable? Thank you .

  1. Gu - thanks for your post. This is an important issue, I hear you! While I am hopeful others in the community will see your post and respond by sharing their own personal experiences, I have something to contribute as well.
You may be aware that Flovent HFA, from GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) is a medication called fluticasone. If you are finding that the generic brand you are looking at (through Medicare), seems to be cost prohibitive, you may want to take this concern up with your prescribing physician. There are several other medications available that are the same medication (fluticasone). Perhaps your doctor will suggest that you switch over to a different equivalent medication for which the cost will be more reasonable.
    What do you think?
