Is your asthma harder to control during spring?

Springtime can be tough on people with asthma, especially those with allergic asthma. Does this time of year tend to trigger your asthma more than other seasons? How do you manage good asthma control during spring?

  1. The springtime can be difficult for me. The freshly cut grass and pollen flying in the air seems to give me some trouble. My throat sometime will feel like it's closing in and my chest gets a bit tight. I have learned that as long as I take my controller inhaler with 1 puff in the morning and evening I can keep things under control.

    1. I can relate to that struggle. Consistency with my controller inhaler has been key for managing my symptoms too. Alongside that, I've found relief through allergy prevention medication and allergy shots. Have you explored any additional strategies besides inhalers to manage your symptoms effectively? Wishing you all the best. John. community moderator

  2. I would say mine is even though I have bad allergies every day all year round. I don't go outside for the entire spring and summer because it gets so bad during that time. I wear masks indoors at my job and outdoors because the weather in my home state is very humid and the allergies are very bad being an agricultural state with lots of trees and grass that for some reason everyone likes to cut at the same time. I'm glad I haven't gotten another severe attack like two summers ago. Who knew grass and heat could be so dangerous? I at least have a strong enough inhaler now to deal with it finally and hopefully my allergy shots will help a few years from now. Needing to adjust your life to your allergies and asthma may be hard but it's nothing to be ashamed of.
