Mullein

I was just wondering if anybody in this group is currently taking mullein to help with their asthma? I am currently taking dry capsules two of them once a day and then one before bed. And one of my other groups people are talking about tinctures working better for some. My question is what is your experience? Thanks!

  1. Hi, Eric! Good to hear from you. I did a quick search of our archives to see if we have had any discussions abut mullein in the past, and interestingly, you are actually the first person to bring it up as far as I can tell. I will be curious to see if others come along to share their experience. How has it been for you so far? It would be good to know for the future, in case others are looking for information. Thanks for sharing! -Melissa, asthma.net team

    1. I found it seems to relax the Airways. I think it also acts as a mild expectorant to help move the mucus that we all know too well. I think the Tea Works a little better than the dry capsules. As I said in my other asthma groups they talked about using the tincture and having good results as well.

    2. Interesting! Like a natural Mucinex. Very cool. Thanks again for sharing! -Melissa, asthma.net

  2. Hi Eric,
I've been using Mullein about a year now. I had been taking 1 capsule bedtime. I was unsure of how much to take so I stuck with that.

It did help until this allergy season. I supplemented 1, 12 hourMucinex with it, as well as using a saline mist twice a day. It all really worked wonders!

I love herbal teas, but I'm sporadic at drinking them. I drink Thyme water with lemon and honey. I mixed hibiscus, thyme and elderberry together and drink it when I feel something coming on.

I hope this gives you some ideas and please share what you find works for you!

    Take care,
    Susan

  3. Mullein has helped me a lot. I made my own mullein cough syrup with blackberry brandy. I have another batch in the wings to complete at the end of the month. I'm not out of the woods yet, but the combination of the honey, and mullein steeped in brandy as a tincture has really helped. Along with my diaphragm breathing.

    1. Hi CM786, and thanks for sharing the success you're having using this mixture to help manage this disease. When you had the diaphragmatic breathing, it sounds like this is a good one-two punch to keep the condition under control
We appreciate both your input and your feedback.
      Keep up the good work!
