Hi Ben, and thanks for your post. You have posed an excellent question! You may be aware that this condition, affects all patients differently. However, there are typically four symptoms which are characteristically associated with asthma. They are: wheezing, chest tightness, coughing and shortness of breath (SOB). Not all patients exhibit all symptoms and symptoms can vary in terms of severity from person to person.
Many in the community have spoken of 'chest tightness' I thought you might find it helpful to look over some of the published material we have (here on asthma.net), which focuses on this aspect of asthma. First, this article, which explains chest tightness: https://asthma.net/living/chest-tightness. And next, this article which speaks to chest tightness and pain: https://asthma.net/symptoms/chest-tightness-and-pain.
I do hope you find this information is helpful for you to read.
Wishing you well,

Thanks Leon, are there any live chats on this link, or suggestions to join a live group? Asthma is all new to me/Ben.

Hi Ben - here on our asthma.net community website, we do not have live chats at this time. We also have an asthma Facebook platform (you'll find the link at the bottom of this page), where there are also a great number of members who interact throughout the day but, it too, is not the 'live' environment I think you are looking for.
I am not aware of a live chat of the type you've mentioned. Perhaps you could search for a 'support group' of some kind that meets regularly, either in person or, possibly through ZOOM.
Please know, you are always welcome in either and/or both of our online communities. You've certainly come to the right place to learn more about this condition!!
What do you think?
