12 days ago, I felt a sore throat, which was easy enough to ignore and carry on with my usual day to day. 6 days ago, my sore throat suddenly turned into violent coughing and I started twice daily Advair 250/25 two puffs as it was definitely an asthma flare coming on due to a virus, and I carried on.
3 days ago I couldn’t lie flat cause the coughing was so brutal and expectorating large amounts of white frothy phlegm was frightening. I had a sleepless night.
2 nights ago I had a fever and constant shortness of breath with a raging heart rate and sleeplessness It sent me to our local Urgent Care. I was ordered a chest x-ray, given antibiotics, and oral steroids.
1 day ago I started Prednisone 50mg. As soon as last night, I was able to semi lay down without the brutal gut wrenching cough. Today, I’m coughing very infrequently and no shortness of breath. Tonight, I may even get to sleep and I look forward to being able to lay down.
Prednisone is my new best friend. Too bad she can only stay a few days. She’s really been a life saver.
