Pregnenalone

Does anyone else use pregnenalone to help their asthma? Mine is bad especially in the spring and this year is especially bad. High dose pregnenalone is helping me and is much safer than prednisone.

  1. Hi. I am familiar with that medicine, and have read some articles on how it is an anti-inflammatory that is sometimes prescribed to help control asthma. It is neat to learn that your doctor is willing to try it for you. I have not heard of anyone personally who has tried it, so I am glad that you posted this here. Glad to hear that it is helping you. How long have you been taking it now? John. community moderator.

    1. I started taking the pregnenalone after I had serious asthma/SOB flareups a few months after I had covid. So.... about 3 years. At that time I took 500 mg a day, then tapered down to a maintenance dose of 200 mg. Currently, I am again taking 400 mg a day as this spring has been especially hard on me. I also take Boswellia, Magnesium, NAC and thyme extract.

    2. Thank you for the update. It's always nice to hear what works for fellow asthmatics. Boswellia is another natural anti-inflammatory. And magnesium has shown to be very helpful with asthma. Where I work we sometimes use it in the emergency room for those experiencing severe asthma attacks. Do you feel like you are doing better this spring since increasing your dose of Pregnenalone to 500? Or is it too soon to tell? John. community moderator.

  2. Thanks for taking the time to share that pregnenolone is working well for you. How did you and your doctor decide that this was the best medication for you? Have you tried others? All the best, Lauren (team member)
