RSV

I just read the article about older children also being at risk for complications/breathing problems and hospitalization with RSV.
My husband and I recently got RSV from our grandchildren and were both extremely sick. I have severe asthma, so it was of concern to my pulmonologist and NP. My husband required three rounds of antibiotics, one steroid shot, and oral steroids. I required multiple rounds of antibiotics, three high-dose steroid shots, and three rounds of high-dose steroids. Took nearly 6 weeks to recover completely. RSV is no joke for anybody! I had no idea adults could get it and be that sick.

  1. Hi robinap - I hear you and agree!! The respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), is a serious virus which can affect any age group. This has not been well known (publicly) over the many years.
Currently, with the proliferation of viruses in general (COVID, Influenza, and RSV), there is a much greater focus on publicizing this for the general population's awareness. Knowledge is power, as we all know, and this can help folks to be aware and take the necessary safety precautions to remain healthy and virus-free.
Thank so much for sharing your recent experiences with the community. I am sorry you and your husband went through this.
    Wishing you well,
