Smelling Asthma Triggers

I have always been able to smell asthma triggers and never thought this was even unusual. Once I went to stay in a cabin for a retreat and smelled the mold immediately. I can smell dust mites immediately. I can tell when I walk in a room whether or not I should walk right out again. I have mild, intermittent asthma, but that may possibly be because I can smell triggers and avoid them. Thank you for the article on smelling asthma triggers. I now know I am not weird. Ha-ha!

  1. Hi. Thank you. I believe you are referring to this article that I wrote a while back (https://asthma.net/living/increase-sense-of-smell). I used to think I was alone in experiencing this. But after hanging out in this community realized that I am not alone. Yes, and I do think it helps us manage our asthma, and to avoid those things (like mold) that might trigger flare-ups. You are not weird at all. Wishing you all the best. John. community moderator.
