Spacers, different inhaler mouthpieces, what do you do?

So, I have an inhaler with a round mouthpiece, and I really wanna get a spacer for it. I want to get a spacer that works with any inhaler I will get, is that a possibility?

  1. Hi Wild Tech, and thanks for posting this, your most recent inquiry. Spacers, sometimes referred to as 'holding chambers, are invaluable for many folks who use metered dose inhalers (MDI's) to insure adequate medication dosing.
There are quite a number of these devices, which are commercially available nowadays. Many of them are universally adaptable for the various shapes of mouthpieces that are an integral part of one's MDI.
I would suggest you approach this from these particular angles, which you can select. You may want to do an internet search and see the variety of devices that are available to you. You can then select the one that matches your particular MDI.
Alternatively, you could reach out for your dispensing pharmacist or prescribing physician. Either of these health care professionals should be able to guide you towards the spacer, or holding chamber, that is most suited to your particular MDI.
As you may have guessed, we do have a number of articles, published right here on our asthma.net community website, which focus on this particular concern. For your convenience, here is a link to several of those articles: https://asthma.net/search?s=medication%20holding%20chamber. I do hope you find the information is helpful in a practical way.
