Symbicort dose

Hi new sufferer here. I was using my Symbicort inhaler and after one twist it flew out of my hands and hit the floor. I picked it up and gave it a second twist, but it might have been two, either because of me being clumsy or because of how it struck or something.

Now I don't know if it's half way through a 2-twist cycle right now. It's so expensive I hate the idea of wasting doses until I can't breathe, especially since I go through episodes when that happens anyway, even with the drug.

Is there anyway I can tell that I'm in the middle of the 2 twists, or have completed it?

  1. Hey there. Sorry to hear you dropped your inhaler -- I think it happens to everyone now and then!

I am not familiar with the twisting style of inhaler, but I think this video could be useful for you.

For a more personal and definite answer, I would visit the pharmacy where you got the inhaler and explain your situation to the pharmacist. They should be familiar with the product and be able to help you. If you run into problems there, then you might consider calling or visiting your prescribing physician. Regardless, it should be an easy fix. Please stop back and let us know what you learn -- your experience can help someone else here looking for the same answers!

    1. Hi Melissa, good suggestion to ask the pharmacist, I'll try that. Thanks.

      1. Oh good! I'm glad I could be helpful. Hope you get everything sorted out! -Melissa, asthma.net team

    2. Hi. I also use the Symbicort, but I use the metered-dose inhaler version so am not familiar with the one you are using. So I would second what Melissa said in her great response above. And, also, it would be neat to know what the pharmacist says if you do end up talking to one. So please keep us posted what you learn. Thanks. John. asthma.net community moderator.
