Tips on BP and Cholesterol medication for asthmatics

Interested in tips on BP and Cholesterol medication for asthmatics.

  1. Hi Bill, thanks for asking your question here for the group. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide medical advice here on this site. I would check in with your doctor to see what medication they feel are appropriate for you. Your doctor will be certain that your medications do not negatively interact with one another. Please check back in and let us know what your doctor thinks! Best of luck, Lauren (team member)

    1. Hi. Another excellent question from you. As Lauren mentioned earlier, your doctor is the best resource for advice on managing blood pressure and cholesterol, especially when considering the specific needs of asthmatics. However, it's worth noting that beta blockers are generally avoided for individuals with asthma due to their potential side effect of bronchospasm, as is explained in this post (https://asthma.net/clinical/beta-blockers). Thankfully, there are several alternative types of blood pressure medications available, and discussing options with your doctor can help find one that effectively controls blood pressure without exacerbating asthma symptoms. Honestly, that is the extent of my knowledge on this topic, which would be a good one for your doctor. If you learn anything interesting, would you please share it with us? Wishing you all the best. 1. Thanks for the input. I was just wondering if anyone has any personal input. I take Telmisartan for BP after reading it was supposed to be good for asthmatics. I also confirmed this with my doctor. But I couldn't find via the internet or my doctor if a cholesterol medication is preferred by asthma patients. Thanks.

        1. Thanks for following up! I hope that someone chimes in and gives you their personal experience. Wishing you all the best, Lauren (team member)
