When to go to Emergency?

When to go to Emergency?

I'm kind of new to asthma. I have been distraught with it this last week. For instance, yesterday I had three or four attacks, with my feeling like it was closing, one last night and so far one attack today,

I have a blue and an orange inhaler and am just hoping I'm using them properly. I've watched Tube demos but it is difficult to know if it's getting into the lungs.

Thanks for letting me share this.

  1. Thanks for joining the community here, we are happy to have you as a member.

I'm sorry to hear that you have been having a rough time with your asthma and have had asthma attacks. Have you had a chance to call your doctor to let them know how you have been feeling? Did you and your doctor develop an asthma treatment plan? A treatment plan can give you a clear plan if you are to have an asthma flare.

I'm going to link an article that discusses when it is important to seek medical treatment. When to Seek Medical Help| Asthma.net

    2. Hi, Nova! A few more thoughts. Have you talked to your doctor about your recent flares? You may want to get in touch, since they might change your medications or want to see you.

Also, are you using a spacer with your inhalers? That might help you feel more confident that you're getting the medication into your lungs. Here's some info about that: https://asthma.net/living/spacers

Of course, having good inhaler technique is always the best way to ensure success. Your doctor or a local asthma educator should be able to teach you how to use your inhalers properly. Videos are great, but sometimes you need another person to observe you to make sure it's just right. 😀 Hope that helps. Take good care of yourself! -Melissa, team member

      1. Thanks for your reply. I went to the doctor this morning. Not too much help except another prescription for inhalers (which I appreciate.). I am using a spacer and the doctor reassured me that they are pretty effective. Thanks so much!
