Which diets or food groups promote asthma symptoms?

Nobody to this day has yet sorted asthma have they?
For many ails and ills we are served up one medication after another right until one fits closest to the result required.
I suffered asthma off and on as a child which to me was really weird.
The worst stints I suffered were while living in Brunei.
Gasping for air until the attacks went away. You'd never tell your folks about these things because going to the hospital was a far worse fate.
After leaving Brunei to the UK my asthma episodes abated.
I migrated to Oz in 75 and to this day have never suffered an asthma attack. I find this odd as Oz is 10x more pollen loaded than Brunei.
I later married and my son also suffered chronic asthma for years, many times being rushed to ER to be Nebbed.
By the time he was 12/13 he was over all forms of asthma.
The question I have is asthma hormonal triggered?
Or is there a missing mineral in the body or lack of?
2 vital minerals that come to light are Mg and Iodine
My personal case is even though my body got over the asthma stage at 12/13 also like my son, I still suffered a raft of other health issues for many years.
The last of my health issues ended when I returned to an all natural diet. I eliminated all processed products.
No more cereals, no pasta, no pizzas, very few pies, no veggie oils, no white tablesalts, just celtic or Himalaya. Stopped using toothpaste with fluoride, stopped using antibacterial products. Using only natural oil based soaps. Very rarely eat commercial breads.
Over time all my clinical conditions cleared.
Today at 63 I am on zero Meds and have been now for 30 odd years
Some things to ponder. There is no such thing as a breakfast food slash meal, there's just food. All my meals today contain fresh produce with various add ons to soup up the offerings.
Being aged my daily intake is minimal
I will eat a main and then a lite snack if I require one.
May I suggest also that all form of sugar be reduced to almost zero
For harms caused by sugar look up Robert Lustig or John Yudkin
Not too many parents would ever offer their kids a nip yet sugar is just as toxic to the liver as booze is!!
In closing many years ago I read a book by Weston Price who wrote on the various diets of this world 100 years ago. He noted supreme wellness was present while native diets were consumed. He later noted poorer outcomes once US and Euro diets were offered thru the all pervading supermarket fixture. I think this observation should be seriously investigated.

  1. Hi Sailon, and welcome! I see you are a new member here, having joined today, much earlier this morning. We are glad to see you already engaging with the community through this, your first post.
You have brought up several interesting points as you shared the brief life events and medical history of both you and your son. You've also provided information for our community members to think about if they so choose. I am glad to hear you have been so successful in treating this disease (asthma), through what appears to be, diet alone!
Thanks so much for sharing this with the community.
    Wishing you well,

    1. Welcome. There are so many interesting things about your post! I find it exciting and fascinating that you have had such great success with food changes. Asthma and allergies often come together, so I wonder if that was a key factor in your case. Certain foods can cause inflammation in the body, and I wouldn't be surprised if that also applied to the airways, etc.

Also interesting is the effect of relocation. Climate and humidity can be a factor for some people, but others see no change if they relocate to a different climate.

Question for you: Do you ever make your own bread, etc, since you don't eat store-bought varieties? I have never made bread but always admired those that do.

Glad to have you here with us. Thanks for sharing your story! -Melissa, asthma.net team
