How do pollution and poor air quality affect your asthma symptoms?

Some people have found that poor air quality and pollution can be a common trigger for their asthma symptoms. What about you? If these factors do affect you, what symptoms do you experience?

  1. For me poor air quality and second hand smoke are my biggest triggers. It just feels like my throat and chest are closing in. It becomes tough to take a deep breath and I start to hear some wheezing when I exhale.

    1. It doesn't happen all that often but when I do feel those symptoms I just try to stay calm and take my inhaler and hope that it helps me breathe better. Most of the time the inhaler helps. I have found that the key is to not wait. Once I start to feel tight it's important to take some medication right away so it doesn't get worse. Being proactive seems to work well for me.

    2. A terrific plan. Sometimes when we wait to treat ourselves, it just makes the situation so much harder to manage. And, I think remaining calm amid an asthma attack is so important. Many times I've not been able to. This too can make the attack so much worse. I've been focusing on this to ease myself through an attack and so far I've had good results. Thanks for sharing what works for you. Sending you healing and relief. Rebecca (team member)
