Coffee ☕️ saved me

When I was growing up, asthma and how to treat it was very new. I had many sleepless nights due to the wheezing but as a teenager I discovered that hot drinks, especially coffee, calmed the wheezing and helped me feel better than any of the medications that I used. As an older adult, I was thankful that my parents loved coffee and that I really didn’t try recreational drugs because I had used so many different types of medications to control the asthma. Now, as a senior adult, I know what to do. A doctor told me as a child that I had to stop eating chocolate but recent studies indicate the opposite - it only helps for mild symptoms. As a teen, I ate all the chocolate I wanted and nothing negative happened as my parents kept us on a balanced diet and we ate lots of hot chicken soup with vegetables. Despite the fact that my parents had a limited education, they read books all of their lives so we learned about asthma together. I know they were stressed when I would get sick, as they took me to many doctors but the coffee they loved helped me to feel “normal”. I’m so grateful to Our Lord for them. Please seek help for your triggers.

  1. How wonderful that you had a supportive around you. Coffee can make a difference! It's not going to have the same strength as a medication, and it definitely won't stop a severe attack, but it can help in some situations. Thanks so much for sharing your story! What's your favorite coffee these days? 😀 -Melissa, team members
