Everyday Symptoms

Hey I can see a great community here. I had rhinitis for 15 years and severe asthma for 2 years. When the asthma came the rhinitis almost stopped. The everyday sympthoms are terible despite the usage of 2x2 Symbicort and 1x Effira. My blood samples are OK and the only not normal thing is high IgE levels - ( 3 to 4 times more than normal). I have proved allergy for dust mites and ambrosia, but I have sympthoms every day - chest pain, shortness of breath, mucus, feeling my lungs heavy. I am 28 years old man - sports guy. I don't smoke, I don't drink, I am fit and working out all my life and I was running marathons but now my life turns around 180 degrees ... I hardly do these activities now. My sympthoms are different every day with periods of severe and not so much. Can you help me somehow, can you give me some advice, routine or medicine to try. I am open for anything - I want this thing to stop. I am willing to "sell my soul to the devil" just to be okay again ... (most of you will know what I am talking about :[ )

Thank you!

  1. Hi Joe, and thanks for sharing your story here. We appreciate your candor with the community. While we cannot provide medical advice or diagnostics over the internet (for your own safety), your concerns certainly warrant a reply.

First, have you had an opportunity to discuss your concerns with your physician? A good physician and/or pulmonologist should be able to assess your present condition, provide a definitive diagnosis followed by appropriate treatment and medication for you to feel better and get back to what is normal for you.

Next, I thought you might find it helpful to familiarize yourself with how asthma is diagnosed and treated.

    1. My pulmonologist suggested me to start biological treatment with Xolair as I have high levels of IgE antibodies in my blood. Every other indicators seems fine, the IgE is the only thing out of order and my non stop symptoms of course. Have anybody tried the treatment with Xolair. Can you share some experience with me.

      1. Hi Joe, and thanks for your reply and further update on your medical condition and the plan for you by the pulmonologist. From what you've shared, it appears this could be the next logical step.
We do, in fact, have some material posted right here, on our asthma.net website, which focuses on the use of Xolair and asthma. I thought you might find it interesting to look over some of them. For your convenience, here is a link to those articles: https://asthma.net/search?s=xolair.
Please do check back and let us know how everything turns out for you moving forward.
        All the best,
