All foods have histamines in them, which can trigger asthma symptoms and flare-ups. Have you changed your eating habits or diets to better manage your asthma? Let us know!
I quit alcohol and sugar (thus coffee, too.) My asthma is AMAZINGLY better.

Hi Kate, and thanks for joining in this conversation. Glad to hear that by changing this aspect of the types of foods you eat/drink, your condition is so much improved. Keep up the good work! Leon (site moderator asthma.net)

I changed to a carnivore diet so no carbs and was off all medication within 4 or 5 months.
I do notice my breathing is a little worse when having allot of dairy and cutting that out for a bit fixes any problems

Hi Kevin, thanks for sharing what has been working for you. Did you check with your doctor before trying a new diet? I'm sure they are pleased that you are off of your medications. All the best, Lauren (team member)

No I took my health into my own hands, here in the uk doctors don't have much training on diet.

agreed. They are not taught nutrition and barely able to keep up with updates on what they were taught. I also took my diet into my own hands. I've always needed mainly meat. I worked out what veggies I can eat which is limited and also how to cook them. Not all methods are ok. It's not as simple as it seems.

Honestly I'm not sure. I obviously eat a clean diet with the odd treat. Junk food cusses reflux which if cause triggers asthma. But I'm also confused about that because at times all I get is a weird feeling in my upper airways. I'm assuming that's part of asthma? When bad also my lungs feels weird. I'm assuming they are sensitive. I'm in a low histamine diet to prevent allergy symptoms even though I don't have any food allergies. It's all so confusing.
