Who has helped you most throughout your journey with asthma?

  1. I was diagnosed with allergic asthma when I was a teenager. Eventually I was sent to an allergist and a pulmonologist. My pulmonologist became my "best friend" for a number of years. He guided me through my journey of finding exactly the right treatment at the right time. Since it was allergy related, I only had to be on meds at certain times of the year. After 5 years of allergy shots, I rarely had to take any medication. All this thanks to a wonderful lung doctor.

As a side note, it was due to the many contacts with Respiratory Therapists through those early years that led me to my career of respiratory therapy.

    1. My allergy/asthma specialist is pretty good, but I have been my own best advocate and have read alot to educate myself.

      1. My mom. She’s always been there for me emotionally and supported me.

        1. My amazing pulmonologist. He was just patient and empathic in the beginning, until I came to terms with my renewed asthma diagnosis.
